Position StatementsBackgroundThe eleven Junior Leagues of North Carolina, representing approximately 8,000 women, have formed SPAC to educate members on selected issues, facilitate communication among member Leagues, and provide training in advocacy skills. SPAC supports and promotes volunteer action on issues and legislation that affect Junior League areas of interest.

Carolina recognizes that domestic violence affects the physical, mental, and emotional health of women, men, and children. The membership of the State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior Leagues of North
Carolina is committed to supporting services and legislation that:
- Provide support for victims of domestic violence,
- Strive to prevent and eliminate factors that perpetuate domestic violence, and
- Promote awareness and understanding of causes and effects of domestic violence.
Position Statement on VoluntarismThe State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior Leagues of North
Carolina, whose purpose is to promote voluntarism and to improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers, supports and promotes voluntarism as an essential component of our society and will continue to take action which will ensure the effectiveness of the voluntary sector.

Carolina recognizes that the health and strength of our society have their deepest roots in the health and strength of its children, youth, and families. SPAC is committed to ensuring that children are provided essential services and opportunities for their optimum physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, and social growth and development.
