Allison Bowman, Chair 2010-2011
Junior League of Charlotte

Allison Leslie Bowman is the communications manager for Elliott Davis, PLLC, one of the largest accounting, tax and consulting services firms in the Southeast.  She formerly served as PR & communications specialist for global law firm K&L Gates, previously worked in external affairs for the University of Maine School of Law, and as a producer for WMTW-TV.  Ms. Bowman holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She has chaired the State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior Leagues of North Carolina since 2009, formerly serving as a SPAC Delegate from the Junior League of Charlotte.  Ms. Bowman is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and a former Board Member and Committee Chair of the Charlotte Chamber’s Creative Industries Council.

 
Julie Heinitsh, Legislative Liaison 2010-2011

Julie Heinitsh is Director of Development at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.  Prior to her career in development, Ms. Heinitsh was also a banker and elementary school teacher.  She earned a B.S. in Education from Southwestern University and holds a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University.

Ms. Heinitsh currently serves as Board Chair for the Literacy Council of Buncombe County and is a member of the vestry at St. Philip's Episcopal Church.  She is an active member and past president of the Junior League of Asheville and has been appointed as the Legislative Liaison for the State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC) of the Junior Leagues of North Carolina, serving on the SPAC Executive Board.  In addition, she is a former member of the Board of Directors and Nominating Committee of the Association of Junior Leagues International.


Liisa Sullivan, Chair-Elect and Assistant Legislative Liaison 2010-2011

Liisa Sullivan is the president of Write Away, Inc., a content writing and editing firm. She has an M.A. in Media Studies from the New School for Social Research in New York City. She has also worked as a job developer at Parsons School of Design in New York and served on the New York City Mayor’s Economic Development Council for Ethnic Diversity.  Ms. Sullivan is currently a member of the Public Relations Association of Western North Carolina (PRAWNC) and serves as Delegate A on the North Carolina State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC), representing the Junior League of Asheville. She is also a member of SPAC’s Executive Board where she is the Assistant Legislative Liaison.




Carey Waye is currently a stay at home mother of two.  Prior to children, she was a teacher in Seminole County, Florida where she taught first grade, third grade, and gifted resource for nine years.  She has an M.A. in Education from the University of Florida and serves as the room parent for each of her daughters' classrooms, volunteering at their school to help struggling students. She is a member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem and is the treasurer of the SPAC’s Executive Board.

 

 


Kimberly Williams, Secretary 2010-2011

Kimberly Williams is a graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.  Her professional experience includes working in Economic Development with public private partnerships at the Pensacola Area Chamber of Commerce and the North Texas Commission Future Fund. In addition to the Junior League, Ms. Williams is involved in a variety of other volunteer activities, including working as a Sunday School teacher, Co-Directing Christian education at her church, and in addition, formerly serving as the President of Mocha Moms, Inc. of Charlotte, North Carolina. In her spare time she enjoys reading.  Ms. Williams is married to Craig Williams and the mother of two very active children.

Ms. Williams joined the Junior League in 1997 and has been active in Leagues from three separate areas:  Pensacola, Florida; Arlington, Texas and Charlotte, North Carolina.  Ms. Williams transferred to the Junior League of Charlotte in 2007 where she has served most recently on the Advocacy and Public Awareness Committee and previously on the Levine Child Life Team which provides activities and interaction for children and teens staying at the Levine Children’s Hospital.  In the past, she has served as both the A and B Delegates for the State Public Affairs Committee of North Carolina, representing the Junior League of Charlotte.  Currently, she is the NC State SPAC Executive Board Secretary.
