Liisa Sullivan, Delegate A 2010-2011

Liisa Sullivan is the president of Write Away, Inc., a content writing and editing firm. She has an MA in Media Studies from the New School for Social Research in New York City. She has also worked as a job developer at Parsons School of Design in New York and served on the New York City Mayor’s Economic Development Council for Ethnic Diversity.  Ms. Sullivan is currently a member of the Public Relations Association of Western North Carolina (PRAWNC) and serves as Delegate A on the North Carolina State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC), representing the Junior League of Asheville. She is also a member of SPAC’s Executive Board where she is the Assistant Legislative Liaison.


Jessica Stevermer, Delegate B 2010-2011

Jessica Stevermer is the Fund Development Coordinator for Buncombe County Parks, Greenways and Recreation Services. She has a Masters of Public Affairs (M.P.A.) from Western Carolina University as well as a B.A. in Political Science from Lynchburg College. She is involved in the active transportation movement in Western North Carolina and works to bring attention to the needs and issues surrounding access to physical activity through the use of the built environment in Buncombe County. Ms. Stevermer is a member of the Junior League of Asheville and currently serves as Delegate B on the North Carolina State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC). She will coordinate the 2011 Asheville/Buncombe Childwatch Tour in cooperation with Children First of Buncombe County, a Junior League of Asheville tradition.

Catherine Zanga, Delegate B 2010-2011

Catherine Zanga is an attorney who has been on a break from her career since February 2010 to stay home with her two young children.  Having earned both a B.A. in Political and Social Thought and Foreign Affairs and a J.D. from the University of Virginia, Ms. Zanga concentrated her public sector legal career in criminal and governmental law.  From staff attorney at the United States Office of Special Counsel in Washington, D.C., to local prosecutor, and most recently, to Assistant City Attorney for the City of Charlotte, Ms. Zanga has been involved in a variety of legal issues at multiple levels of government.  In addition, she is also a graduate of the Mecklenburg Bar Leadership Institute.  Ms. Zanga is a member of the Junior League of Charlotte and served as a puppeteer for the past two years for her League’s “You Are What You Eat” puppet show, but now that her life has transitioned to one big puppet show, she has taken on the new role representing the Junior League of Charlotte as Delegate B on the North Carolina State Public Affairs Committee.



Holly Robertson, Delegate B 2010-2011

Holly Robertson is a postdoctoral fellow with joint appointments in the Neurobiology Department at Duke University and the McGovern Institute, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT.  Dr. Robertson obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver, CO in 2008.  Currently her work focuses on the study of childhood onset psychiatric disorders.

Dr. Robertson is the Assistant Chair for the Public Affairs Committee for the Junior League of Durham and Orange Counties (JLDOC) and was named “Provisional of the Year” for the 2009-2010 League Year to honor her dedication and commitment to the JLDOC.  Dr. Robertson also serves as the JLDOC’s Delegate B on the State Public Affairs Committee of North Carolina.




Cat Heitz New, Delegate A 2010-2011

Cat Heitz New, Director of Corporate and Workplace Giving for The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, holds Bachelor Degrees from the College of Charleston in Arts Administration, Fine Art and Art History.  Prior to her current post, she worked with the City of Charleston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, PURE Theatre, and as a consultant to several non-profits including colleges, community foundations, professional development groups and arts organizations.  Ms. New is a graduate of the Leadership Winston-Salem Class of 2009 and serves as a board member for Arts North Carolina, Piedmont Craftsmen and Triad Academy, Development Chair for The DASH Young Professionals and the State Public Affairs Committee of the Junior League of Winston-Salem.



Becca Free, Delegate B 2010-2011

Becca Free works as a High School Curriculum Coordinator in Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools where she helps teachers implement research based teaching practices. Previously, Ms. Free worked as a teacher and case manager of students with special needs. Ms. Free holds a M.A. from Salem College, and B.A. in Psychology from University of Louisville. She is a member of the Junior League of Winston-Salem where she has been involved in coaching a “Girls on the Run” team.  Ms. Free currently serves as Delegate B on the North Carolina State Public Affairs Committee, representing the Junior League of Winston-Salem.
